In Alberto Giacometti’s "Point to the Eye" (top image), a slender rod reaches toward a hovering sphere that suggests an eye, creating a balance of attraction and aggression. The sculpture stretches form itself, transforming anamorphosis—an optical illusion—into three dimensions and exploring how seeing can be both sensual and violent.

Below, Salvador Dalí’s "Fantaisies Diurnes" (bottom image) reimagines the same optical trick on canvas. A vast, white, skull-like shape floats across the surface, fusing death and desire into a dreamlike form with keys, jewels and cryptic texts mapping hidden impulses.

Both works reveal how Giacometti and Dalí used anamorphosis to explore perception, desire and the unstable nature of vision. What do you notice when you shift your gaze between them?
