Back in 2017, Nicki Guy’s right eye started failing, losing its normal shape and "sort of collapsed”. And a few years later, her left eye started failing the same way.
 
The 47-year-old was diagnosed with a rare but dangerous eye conditon called hypotony.
 
But thanks to a pioneering treatment, doctors say they have achieved the impossible - restoring her sight and preventing blindness with something they already had in their cupboard - a low-cost, transparent, water-based gel.
