Top Free Things to Do in NYC with Visitors (Year-Round*) 🌃

I get asked this question a lot! What’s your favorite for visitors? Save if you need a quick guide.

*Year round is important bc there’s so many more free things to do in the summer (Movie Nights in Parks, Shakespeare in the Park, Kayaking, & more!)

1. Central Park & Belvedere Castle: So much to explore! Make sure to go to Conservatory Gardens, Belvedere Castle, Harlem Meer

2. The High Line & Chelsea Market: Great way to see Manhattan views & Chelsea Market is fun to walk around

3. Pier 57 Rooftop & Little Island: One of my favorites! Rooftop w/ amazing views, Little Island free performances in the summer

4. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge & Brooklyn Heights Promenade: Classic NYC thing to do, go early for the best pictures. Brooklyn Promenade is a beautiful walking path

5. Staten Island Ferry (Statue of Liberty): Staten Island Ferry is totally free and you can get great views of the Statue of Liberty

6. Free Museum, Garden & Zoo Days: So many top NYC institutions have free hours or days (Whitney, NYBG, MoMA, etc). Look at when your guests are visiting & plan accordingly!

7. Wall St, World Trade Center & 9/11 Memorial: 9/11 Memorial is always open & free to view, WTC has Oculus, PAC NYC, and Wall St has girl statue, Bull

8. Bryant Park & New York Public Library: NYPL is beautiful (rooftop at Starvos) + Bryant Park esp in the winter w/ skating & market

9. Chelsea & Tribeca Art Galleries: Always free, these are great to view for contemporary art fans!

10. Snug Harbor Culture Center & Botanic Garden: Huge park on Staten Island with beautiful greenery & gardens

11. South Street Seaport: Cute area for great views and shops, Tin Building is nice market to walk around in

12. Domino Park: Great spot for sunset, check out Williamsburg before/after

13. Free Performances at Lincoln Center: A ton of performances are free or Pay What You Wish!

14. Socrates Sculpture Park: Outdoor sculpture park in Astoria with changing pieces

15. Flushing Meadows Park Unisphere: historic sight from World Fair, beautiful views of cherry blossoms
