GOLF HELP SERIES PART 1: HOLD OFF SHOTS 

One of the biggest tips I heard was take the higher club and hit a hold off shot, and here’s why:

1. To control distance. My distance control has improved significantly since learning this tip. I am able to land the ball in a specific spot by holding off a club and hitting more of a 75% shot. 

2. To control ball flight. In most cases, once you’re able to control the ball flight you will be able to play in any conditions. On a windy day, you will need to take the higher club and play a knockdown shot for better accuracy through the external conditions. 

3. To control the spin of the golf ball. Hold off shots produce less spin which enable you to hit shots to a back pin or a green just over a hazard.
