This year’s BagelFest #lifetimeachievementaward winner is back in action under mysterious new ownership after abrupt closure in December 2024… But the “New Absolute Bagels” couldn’t possibly be as good as the original - could it?

The opening of "New Absolute Bagels" is a modern day Ship of Theseus, and prompts us to examine a philosophical question: what makes a bagel shop a bagel shop? Is a neighborhood institution “the same” when ownership and equipment change, but staff, layout, and product largely remain intact?
