PACKING FOR THE BIRTH CENTER - Part 1

The countdown is on! Here’s part of what I’m bringing with us to the birth center when I go into labor. Once baby is born and the placenta is delivered, we will only remain in the birth center for 2 hours before we head home as a family of 4. I naturally overpack 🤷🏾‍♀️ to be prepared for different situations lol. Let’s go!

DIAPERING

I’ve packed 2 different types of newborn cloth diapers, with a few of each kind.

Gdiapers are my tried and true newborn diapers that I used and loved for G when he was a newborn. I love West Coast Dipes in one size pocket diapers, so I’m excited to try the newborn All in One diaper they offered. 

The secondhand diapers (Gdiapers) have been deep cleaned (a process called “stripping diapers” in the cloth diaper community) and washed. WCD were new and needed to be washed a few times for best absorbency - they are also ready to wear.

Unfortunately, both brands are no longer making diapers. You can find Gdiapers on resale sites, and WCD is currently having a liquidation sale. 

This is a bit of overpacking because baby might not even go through one diaper in the time from when they are born to reaching the house. But I want to be prepared for the possibility of one fitting better than the other or just in case anything else arises. 

With G - I was afraid to start with cloth diapers from day 1, so I purchased less toxic disposable diaper brands to start off with. I used those for about a week or so. I am much more confident in cloth diapering this time around since we did it from start to finish before (even cloth training underwear), so we’ll be cloth diapering from the first moment baby needs a diaper with this child.
