A Trophy with History: A Closer Look at the Joe Barry Memorial and its Namesake👇

🔹The Joe Barry Memorial was named after legendary U.S. 9-goaler Harold A. “Joe” Barry.
🔹The tournament was founded in his honor in 2005, three years after his passing.
🔹The trophy is a bronze sculpture that is a recreation of an iconic moment from the 1979 World Cup when Barry was captured in a photo kneeling on the field with his Hall of Fame pony Alabama.
🔹Barry was inducted into the Polo Hall of Fame in 1999.
🔹Nationally, he won six U.S. Open Polo Championships, three USPA Gold Cups, three Silver Cups, two Butler Handicaps and one North American Cup.
🔹Internationally, he played on the U.S. team for the Cup of the Americas twice.
🔹He also won the inaugural Coronation Cup in 1971 and the Camacho Cup.
🔹The Joe Barry Memorial will serve as the first qualifying leg of four prestigious national tournaments (Ylvisaker Cup, Iglehart Cup, Outback Cup) culminating in the NPC 16-Goal Championship in April. 

Hosted by Port Mayaca Polo Club, featured Sunday matches at the National Polo Center will be livestreamed on January 11 and 18, with the final on January 25, exclusively on the USPA Polo Network via watch.uspolo.org and major streaming platforms!
