I felt the energy from the second I walked in the door and had to put out my best race to match that. I am riding a dopamine high. No better way to start this season than with a blood bath of a race! One word that sums it up: proud. I am proud of my training and preparation, proud of my effort, proud of my achievements. The past eight weeks of grueling race prep truly paid off. I did what I set out to do. I ran a massive PR (-4:56). Coming out of Sandbag Lunges I was sitting in second, 28s back. Grabbed back 2s on the last run which was not much help. On my last lap I had an internal dialog with two options: concede and accept second or go unbroken and hope that's enough. I chose the latter, went UB, and sprinted across the finish line. 2 seconds. In an hour plus long race, that's all it came down to. Lastly, walkington.j.cole you are unreal dude. Not only an insane athlete but an even better person & friend. I have nothing but respect for you. We battled hard, yet again, and it won't be the last time. Racing against you is electric. I think it's time to run doubles and make some serious noise.
