I’M GOING! So excited to reunite with my superlapbattle and gridlifeofficial families this weekend at cota_official. My time attack roots run deep. I helped bring the first time attack to North America back in ‘04 and for better or worse, I’m the reason Buttonwillow Raceway Park’s CW13 is internationally recognized (you’re welcome and… I’m sorry?). I helped launch Global Time Attack, spent time at Redline Time Attack and worked with some of the leading TA teams, such as Sierra Sierra Enterprises and their legendary CT9A, better known as Christine. 

I don’t say this as a flex or a #notsohumblebrag, only to show my intense passion for this outlier motorsport and these oddball cars. Top TA machines aren’t just stanced or camber ganged with aero and hard parts added for show car steeze (not that there’s anything wrong with that). As racecars, they’re not built within the templatized, cookie cutter confines of any rigid rulebooks. They’re also not too far removed from our roadgoing cars, unlike say, the new mercedesamgf1 W12 (love, respect and admire it, just can’t identify with it).

Now, take this lyfemotorsport Corvette. It’s unlimited, but not unidentifiable and yet, looks like no C5 ever. It’s a Rat Fink caricature that feels more like something I would have scrawled on my Pee-Chee folder than a wide-open record breaker. For all its savagery and ruthlessness, it exists for a singular purity of purpose – to lay down the fastest lap possible. 

I love everything about these magnificent machines and these amazing drivers, builders and teams and I can’t wait to catch up with coletheracer and everyone else. Who else is gonna roll out? SLB time attack AND GridLife TC cars on a world-class FIA circuit – it’s gonna be rowdy. I may even be moved enough to set a few BTA records of my own (if ya know, ya know). Remember, if you roll through, mask up and be responsible. 🍻
