ejae_k EJAE went from being told her voice wasn’t good enough to winning a Golden Globe. ⁠

She trained under SM Entertainment for nearly 10 years starting at age 11 but never debuted and was eventually dropped. After taking a break to finish her studies, she moved to the US and graduated from NYU Tisch, then rebuilt her career as a songwriter and producer. ⁠
⁠
Her big break came when she co-wrote Red Velvet’s hit “Psycho,” which opened the door to more major projects. In 2025, she helped create the soundtrack for Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, became the singing voice for a main character, and co-wrote and performed “Golden,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and won Best Song at the Golden Globes.⁠
