Q: 🌄 What makes you happy, motivated, or excited?

A: Mountains are my main motivator, but most outdoor activities make me happy. Living in Colorado, I’m lucky to have quick access to fantastic trails and views. My favorite local outdoor spot is Vindicator Valley Trail. It’s full of abandoned gold mines — so cool! But I don’t mind traveling for a beautiful view. My most recent adventure was in Kauai, and I’m still not over how much joy the sunsets alone brought me.

I’ve also always been motivated by questions that are layered, contradictory, dynamic, or otherwise seem impossible to solve (aka, wicked problems). For instance, once in elementary school, we were tasked with responding to school-specific issues. I don’t remember all the details, but I remember how giddy I got about challenging my elementary school’s classroom accessibility policies. The assignment required listing, defining, grouping, mapping, and more to unravel what felt like a very convoluted issue for my tiny brain. I’m still excited about solving problems, especially when they require a series of activities to understand.

Q: 🥐What is one of your favorite restaurants in the world and why?

A: My favorite restaurant is Lithuanian Bakery in my hometown, Omaha, Nebraska. I highly recommend the Napoleon torte. And don’t worry; they ship!
