“I am inspired by Reginald F. Lewis, who was one of the richest Black men in the 1980s, and the first Black American to build a billion-dollar company, TLC Beatrice International Holdings Inc.. Similar to my childhood, Reginald Lewis was not raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he allowed his passion and hunger to fuel his path to success. 

After reading his book "Why Should White Men Have All The Fun,” I became so intrigued by his journey building his empire, his boldness in deals, and the way that he took up space as a Black man in business unapologetically. I admire the way Lewis understood that formal education is just the beginning. School taught him how to think and how to research, but most of the knowledge he used to build his empire was self-taught.

As I am learning to navigate this business world, Lewis' experience confirms that you can build from nothing and leave a legacy that will impact your family and others for generations.”
