The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week 8 of the 2022 season. Vegas Quarterback, Jerod Evans takes Offensive Player of the Week. Frisco Defensive Back, Cameron Hilton earns Defensive Player of the Week. We have Co-Special Teams Players of the Week; that honor belongs to Tucson’s Tony Winslow and Jovon White.

Jerod Evans – OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Some games come with built-in excuses. This was the case for Vegas last week. Cross country travel. Kicking off at what equates to 9:05 AM at home. Matching up with the defending league champions. Vegas didn’t take the bait. Instead, they defeated the Massachusetts Pirates by a score of 46-44. Jerod Evans was a force. He completed 18 of 25 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns. Evans also rushed eight times for 39 yards and three scores. That is seven total touchdowns for the Vegas quarterback.

Cameron Hilton – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Frisco had been riding a five-game win-streak. Cementing themselves as a top-tier team in the league. The streak came to an end this past week when they hosted the Arizona Rattlers. Frisco fell to Arizona by a score of 49-35. Even in a loss, when a defensive back gets three interceptions in one game, that needs to be recognized. Frisco Defensive Back, Cameron Hilton, tallied four total tackles and three interceptions to earn Defensive Player of the Week.

Tony Winslow & Jovon White – CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Well, it was certainly the special teams PLAY of the week, possibly of the year. Duke City visiting Tucson. Duke City had just scored with :05 seconds remaining in the game to go ahead 41-40. Game over, right? Not if you ask Tony Winslow. As Duke city was attempting the PAT, Winslow plowed through the middle of the line to get a hand on the kick. The ball bounced to the two-yard line where Jovon White picked it up. He was surrounded by Gladiators but somehow managed to escape and return the PAT for a 48-yard score to give Tucson the 42-41 victory.
