Ron Artest now known as World Metta Peace once turned down equity for upfront payment in Vitamin Water, the very  same company that earned 50 cent millions of dollars. At the time, Artest wanted to go for the sure thing and  there is no fault in that. However, knowing what we know now and understanding financial literacy the better play would have been taking the equity.

The problem isn't the opportunities or deal flow or lack of capital to invest, it's the financial education to understand which questions to ask or how to evaluate the right deal.
