It's also important to set realistic expectations - reaching too high of a goal too soon can be discouraging and lead to frustration. Having a goal in mind also gives stroke survivors something to strive towards, helping them see the progress they make along the way. Finally, setting meaningful goals can help restore a sense of purpose in life after a stroke.
