Barry O'Neill made Pelican Lakes proud this week 👏

Today the 2022 men’s club champion concluded the three-day PGA of America National Championship held at KiawahResort in South Carolina with a 79 on the Cougar Point course to finish in a tie for 9th place out of 126 other club champions from around the globe.

Barry opened his tournament on Wednesday with an even par 72 at The Ocean Course, followed by a three-over round of 75 on Thursday at Turtle Point. Barry’s 10-over total left him nine strokes behind champion Stewart Whitt of Canebrake Club in Athens, AL. Barry turned in the second-best score among the seven players from Colorado, five shots behind A.J. Morris of Aspen Golf Club.

Today Barry couldn’t find a groove. He carded an uncharacteristic eight bogies and a double to go along with one birdie and an eagle on the par 5 11th hole.

“I really struggled on the greens,” he said. “Bermuda greens crushed me. Great experience and super thankful for all the support.”

While Barry might be disappointed with his finish, everyone at Pelican Lakes is proud to call Barry a fellow member.

Congratulations to Barry for not only participating in the event, but finishing among the top 10 best club champions in the world!
