2 sticks Danish Creamery European-style sea salted butter (225gr), room temperature
4 large eggs
2 cups sugar
3.5 cups all-purpose flour
8 oz sour cream
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
2 blood oranges, zested
1 tsp baking soda
Blood Orange Slices

Butter a 10-inch spring form pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper. Butter and then sprinkle some sugar all over the bottom of the pan to get a thin, even layer of sugar. Cut your Blood Oranges into thin slices and arrange them over the layer of sugar. Put it into the fridge while making the batter.
Sift the flour and baking soda into a medium bowl and whisk together. Set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 8 min.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating until each addition is incorporated before adding the next. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula when necessary. Add Orange zest and sour cream, mix.
Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the orange juice, beating just until each addition is incorporated before adding the next; do not overmix.
Scrape the batter into the pan or spread it so that it is smooth in the pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean at 350F.
