The fifth of our Senior Salutes posts of the members of the Windsor High School boys’ golf team features Carter Hinkle.

In the 26 years of boys’ golf at Windsor High, only 22 athletes have qualified for at least one state tournament, and just three have qualified all four years. Carter is one of those three.

The son of Kurt and Jill Hinkle averaged 82.13 strokes in his four state events, with his best showing taking place this fall at Pelican Lakes where he fired a 77-82 for 29th place. Windsor has taken a team to state eight times in its history, and Carter was on four of those teams.

During his tenure, Carter helped Windsor finish runner up in state (2021), capture the school’s first regional title (2022), and won three-straight team conference championships (2020-22). As an individual, Carter played in 49 competitive rounds and finished in the top five 13 times, runner-up twice, and was the medalist two times. His stroke average improved each year, starting with an 83.23 as a freshman, 79.38 as a sophomore, 76.71 as a junior, and 75.86 as a senior. His single-season average as a senior ranks as the 11th all time in school history and his junior season is 15th all time.

Besides golf, Carter plays attack on the Windsor lacrosse team and currently works in the Pelican Lakes pro shop. Congratulations, Carter on concluding one of the most successful careers in school history!
