The Windsor High School boys’ golf team wasn’t able to defend on its home course at Pelican Lakes during the two-day Class 4A state championship.

The Wizards tied for fifth out of 14 teams with a team score of 461 (29-over). Cheyenne Mountain won the team event with a score of 445 (13-over), followed by 2021 state champ Riverdale Ridge 449 (17-over). 

Windsor sophomore Kellen Ball battled in a four-person playoff to determine the individual medalist but his bogey on the first playoff hole, the par 4 18th, wasn’t enough to better Riverdale Ridge junior Bradley Weinmaster’s par. Ball tied for second with a two day score of 144 (even par). It’s the second lowest individual finish at state for a Wizard behind Brentyn Paiz’s first place title a year ago. 

Windsor sophomore Tadese Keyworth tied for 26th with a two-day score of 158 (76-82). Senior Carter Hinkle ended his high school career with a 29th place finish of 159 (77-82). Classmate Landon Ball also concluded his high school golf career with a 60th place finish of 171 (86-85). 

Carter (4) and Landon (3) played in seven state tournaments combined and depart as two of the most decorated players in school history. Carter finished his four-year tenure with a stroke average of 78.63 and Landon an 81.77. They were on last year’s state runner up team and this year’s first-ever regional championship.
