The Big Ten will take four more Pac-12 schools. Well… they want to at least.

As a Big Ten football guy who coached in the Pac-12, here’s what I think…

But before that — Last year, USC and UCLA announced they’d be joining the Big Ten in 2024. It shocked a lot of people, including me, considering the closest Big Ten program is... Nebraska.

But you need to realize that was only the first step in the plan. The Big Ten needs to compete with the SEC.

The SEC took the biggest Big 12 brands, Texas and Oklahoma.

The Big Ten is doing the exact same with the Pac-12, except they aren’t stopping with two — So who do they still want?

The favorites are Oregon and Washington. Oregon is tied to Nike. That’s an invaluable relationship to have. They’re a massive brand in college athletics with seemingly unlimited moneyWashington solidifies the west coast presence. They’re still a top 25 most valuable brand despite football struggles. Seattle is a huge get for the Big Ten. The two other programs rumored are Cal and Stanford. Sure, their football programs haven’t been great for a while, but their academic reputations are huge. The Big Ten prides itself on that!
