Lee had long shared his dream of playing the drums, while Takaichi is known as a heavy metal fan who played drums during her college years. ⁠

Drawing on that shared interest, Takaichi arranged the performance as a surprise, with the two leaders sitting side by side and drumming to K-pop hits including BTS’ “Dynamite” and “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters. ⁠

Both leaders later described the jam session as a symbol of respecting differences and deepening cooperation as Japan and South Korea work to strengthen diplomatic ties.⁠
