Bill and Hillary Clinton declined to testify Tuesday before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee in its Jeffrey Epstein investigation, instead issuing a forceful letter to Chairman James Comer defending their refusal.

“Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,” the Clintons wrote in the lengthy letter. “For us, now is that time.”

Comer threatened to initiate contempt proceedings against the Clintons in December if they failed to appear for depositions and sent a letter to the couple's attorney, demanding they attend.
