Five years is a long time to give yourself to something. Long enough to change. Long enough to be humbled. Long enough to realize that what you thought this journey woud be... isn’t what it ended up being.

I can’t believe this is my fifth and final year of college softball. I don’t think the weight of that hits until I really sit with it. There were so many moments along the way where I questioned myself, where I wondered if I was enough, or if I was even where I was supposed to be. I learned that growth doesn’t always look like progress. Sometimes it looks like waiting. Sometimes it looks like staying when everything inside of you is telling you to walk away.

There were times I felt invisible. Times I felt like I was falling in ways no one else noticed. I tried carrying disappointment and anger quietly because I didn’t want it to harden me. But the truth is, it did harden me. I became guarded, angry, and closed myself off because it felt safer. I built walls where there used to be trust, and learned how to survive.

BUT GOD!!!!

He met me in the middle of frustration, pride, and hurt that I didn’t want to admit. He was patient. He slowly softened the parts of my heart I thought I needed to protect. He reminded me that hardness might feel like control, but softness is where healing lives.

This journey taught me that faith isn’t about always getting it right. It’s about BEING WILLING to let God undo what life hardened. To unlearn and learn over and over again, to trust after being disappointed, and to stay obedient even when you’re tired of waiting.

From the seasons I didn’t understand, the seasons I wrestled with my identity, the seasons where I had to face who I was becoming, and decide if I liked her. God used those moments to bring me back to myself, but most importantly back to Him.

This year I’m different. More aware. More honest. More at peace. Because God did a work in me that cannot be shaken. The joy of the Lord is my strength.

I’m grateful for all of it, especially the parts that broke me open so God could rebuild me. Thank you, Jesus. For Your patience and for restoring what needed healing. ♥️
