A high-speed train derailed and collided with an oncoming service near Adamuz, Cordoba, in southern Spain, killing at least 39 people and injuring 122 on Sunday, 18 January. ⁣

Emergency crews evacuated dozens of survivors overnight from the wreckage, marking Spain's worst rail disaster since 2013.⁣

Of the 122 hurt, 48 remained hospitalized, 12 in intensive care.⁣
⁣
The crash involved an Iryo train (Malaga-Madrid) and an Alvia train (heading to Huelva) carrying about 400 passengers total. The collision occurred at 7.45 p.m. (1845 GMT) while the Alvia was reportedly travelling at about 200 km/h.⁣
