After my comments on the new Major League Lacrosse - MLL logo a couple days ago, I had some people tell me that I didn't know what I was talking about and that I wouldn't be able to do any better.

I took that as a challenge and decided to take a shot at creating a better logo inside of the existing framework of what the MLL released. Mainly this meant addressing the issues I stated in my story posts as proof that I dont have to be a professional designer to understand how design works.

My illustrator skills are bare minimum, and so there are some minor flaws that were created during the image trace that I couldnt figure out how to fix. That being said, I am still pretty happy with how the final product turned out.

I got rid of the awkward gradient (even if you think it looks fine now, give it ten years and you'll change your mind. Ask NHL fans); eliminated the bizarre bevel that didn't even cover the entire right side of the logo; tweaked the colors to be less saturated, a tad darker and more strong, more blue and less purple, and more in line with the logos they were supposedly taking inspiration from; modified the shield shape to make sense and not waste so much space; thinned down the outlines a touch to make them more modern; and removed the colored text to make the logo more clean and streamlined.

I still think the overall design isn't great, but this feels like a drastic improvement....to me anyway.

What do you guys think?
