Veterans represent the bravest among us. However, they are also one of the most vulnerable groups to food insecurity, no matter their age. According to the USDA, 11.1 % of working-age veterans between 2015 and 2019 lived in food-insecure households. An additional study by the USDA found that veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq are twice as likely to be experiencing food insecurity compared to the general population. Meals on Wheels West is proud to have the opportunity to serve veterans across the Westside communities. With support from local organizations including American Legion Post 283, our Supporting Veterans on the Homefront program provides cost-free meals to veterans of all ages and their spouses. We thank all veterans for their service and make it our mission to give back and ensure they are taken care of here at home.
