French onion chicken pot pie recipe ⬇️

I was able to get a few things on sale so this was nice and cheap! 
1 whole yellow onion (sliced thinly)
3-4 red potatoes diced (microwaved until soft) 
2 cans cream of chicken 
1 can French onion soup 
1 tbsp butter (unsalted)
2 tsp black pepper 
2 tsp onion powder 
2.5 tsp garlic powder 
1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs 
1 sheet puff pastry 
Egg wash (optional) 
Bake at 425 for 20-25 mins
