Geopolitics is reshaping the global business landscape.

A new report by BCG, World Economic Forum, and IMD Business School shows that while executives increasingly recognize geopolitical forces as central to corporate strategy, few organizations have built the capabilities needed to respond effectively.

As trade tensions, technological rivalry, and institutional fragmentation redefine global markets, geopolitical capability is emerging as a true source of competitive advantage.

These themes are also front and center in conversations among global decision makers convening in Davos, where leaders are exploring how cooperation, resilience, and collective action can adapt as the world continues to change.

The research outlines five practical steps leaders can take to strengthen their “geopolitical muscle,” from building integrated intelligence systems to embedding insights directly into decision-making.

It was authored by Nikolaus Lang, Cristián Rodríguez Chiffelle, and Cristián Rodríguez Chiffelle from BCG, together with Simon J. Evenett, Professor of Geopolitics and Strategy, IMD Business School.
