#OnThisDay in 1968, after a failed march, the SCLC remained divided. 

Some members wanted to focus on the Poor People’s Campaign while others wanted to pursue the support of the sanitation workers in #Memphis. 

In the end, Dr. King remained committed to the sanitation workers & decided that he would return to Memphis the following week in order to show his support.
