We're bringing back our #UnscienceAnAnimal series with another oldie but goodie! Today, the fuzzybumbus bigchungus — aka American bumblebee.

These iconic black-and-yellow beauties were once the most commonly observed bees in the United States. But pesticide use, disease and habitat loss have all contributed to their current plight: American bumblebees have declined 90% in the past 20 years.

In 2021, following a Center petition, the USFWS determined that American bumblebees may warrant federal protection. But now it's 2023 and there's no time to waste.

👉 You can help: Tell the Service to safeguard these native pollinators under the Endangered Species Act before it's too late. (Link in bio.)
