Today, we're honoring and celebrating César Chávez's birthday. As a labor rights activist and civil rights leader who co-founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) union, Chávez dedicated his life to advocating for the rights of farm workers, who were often mistreated and underpaid. He organized boycotts, strikes, and other nonviolent protests to bring attention to the plight of farm workers and pressure employers to improve their working conditions and wages.

As a statewide holiday observed by UC San Diego, the Office of Admissions will be closed today. #CesarChavezDay
