U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials detained nearly 70 children in Alabama between Sept. 2023 and Sept. 2025. The youngest child was two-years-old.

On average, four children a month were detained in 2025 with Baldwin County claiming the most child detentions for the first nine months of the year.

In 2023, ICE detained 2.3 children per month. In 2024, that number fell to 1.8 before rising in 2025.

None of the children detained by ICE in Alabama since Sept. 2023 were convicted of a crime. Most had pending criminal charges, while two were categorized for some other immigration-related violation.
