Watch the Game Highlights from Florida Gators at Vanderbilt Commodores, 01/17/2026

Rueben Chinyelu scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half as No. 19 Florida rallied past No. 10 Vanderbilt, 98–94, on Saturday night. The Gators (13–5, 4–1 SEC) erased a one-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Commodores 54–49 after the break to secure their fourth conference win.

Chinyelu was dominant down the stretch, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the second half. Xaivian Lee matched him with 20 points, shooting 8 of 13 from the floor and knocking down three 3-pointers. Florida’s efficiency was steady throughout, as the Gators finished shooting 52% (32 of 61) from the field.

Vanderbilt (16–2, 3–2 SEC), which suffered its second straight loss after opening the season with 16 consecutive wins, was led by Tyler Tanner’s 20 points.
Florida controlled the glass, outrebounding Vanderbilt 40–26, including a decisive 13–6 advantage on the offensive boards. While the teams were nearly identical in shooting percentages, Vanderbilt shot 51% (33 of 65); the rebounding margin and second-half execution proved to be the difference.

The game was tight early before Florida used a 13–0 run to build a 10-point first-half lead, sparked by 12 points from 6-foot-11 center Alex Condon. Vanderbilt responded with a strong finish to the half, taking a 45–44 lead at the break on Jalen Washington’s putback at the buzzer, the Commodores’ only offensive rebound of the opening half.

The second half was physical and foul-heavy, with both teams committing a combined 26 fouls over the final 20 minutes. One pivotal stretch saw Chinyelu convert four consecutive free throws following a flagrant and a common foul. Florida retained possession, and Thomas Haugh capped the sequence with a 3-pointer, completing a crucial seven-point possession that shifted momentum back to the Gators.

Florida’s composure at the line and dominance on the boards allowed it to hold off Vanderbilt down the stretch and secure a signature road win over a Top 10 opponent.
