The authors are all honored for a variety of published works, but all the books have one thing in common: a central theme of diversity and addressing racism.

The Northeast Ohio-based awards have been going strong since 1935 and are currently managed by the Cleveland Foundation. They’re named after Cleveland philanthropist and poet Edith Anisfield Wolf.
