We’re back in action and ready to highlight our Army JROTC #CadetOfTheWeek 🎉

Today we travel to The Empire State and meet Cadet Naomi Narvaez, a junior at Queens Metropolitan High School in New York. 

Originally from Spain, Narvaez is an active member of both her school and community. Along with #ArmyJROTC, she is a member of a club called FLAME and does community service as often as her schedule allows. 

“Something that sets me apart from my peers is how easily I adapt. Even though I have moved from country to country, I’ve adjusted well in each one...I also stand out in translating English to Spanish excellently. Even though I don’t speak perfect English, I’ve done very well academically.”

Narvaez’s mother serves as her leadership motivation. 

“Since I was little, she has taught me the importance of being a courageous woman who doesn’t need anything from anyone. I [see] my mother as a strong and hardworking woman...”

She enjoys #JROTC because it has helped her transform the way she views herself. 

“It teaches you to think before you act, to accept responsibility, and to develop true mental strength. It motivates you to chase your goals with discipline and purpose. For me, JROTC became a home, it gave me direction and confidence.”

After high school, Narvaez plans to pursue a career in the military and study criminal justice. She hopes to become either a police officer or a lawyer.
