The past few weeks on station… 📸

The Expedition 72 crew members have been keeping busy in microgravity. Take a look at what they’ve been up to aboard the orbiting laboratory. 

Pic 1) NASA astronaut Suni Williams photographs ice crystals forming inside a sheet of water using surface tension to stay attached to a ring in microgravity. 

Pic 2) Space science meets art! Thin wafers of water ice grown in microgravity result in colorful, fragmented ice crystals. 

Pic 3) The SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft, packed with more than 6,000 pounds of new science and supplies, approaches the station for a docking as it soared 255 miles above a cloudy Pacific Ocean. 

Pic 4) NASA astronaut Nick Hague exercises on the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device in the Tranquility module while wearing the Bio-Monitor, a garment and headband set outfitted with sensors to collect physiological data and minimally interfere with space station life. 
 
Pic 5) NASA astronaut Don Pettit peers out a window on the SpaceX Dragon Endeavour spacecraft as the station orbited 269 miles above the Pacific Ocean. 

Pic 6) Space science is fun! Pettit fills a sphere of water with food coloring creating a planet-like effect in microgravity.
