Evening publix run, but make it magical. ✨🦄🐉

It was 5:30 PM, and I was getting the kids from their nanny. I needed to run a couple of errands before starting on dinner. Cooper was wearing his dragon dress-up, and I asked him to take it off so we could head out. 🚙

Invariably, Cooper asked if he could keep it on. In that moment, I could’ve said no—for no real reason other than control—and watched him spiral into an unnecessary meltdown. Or I could say, “Okay. Just make sure the tail doesn’t drag on the floor when we get to the supermarket. If it does, I’ll have to take the dress-up.” I chose the latter. 🛒

Summer chimed in and asked if she could wear her unicorn dress-up. What was I going to tell her—no? Meanwhile, her brother is walking out of the house looking like a dang fairy tale lol. Of course I said yes. 🏰

At the end of the day, I’ve learned that parenting doesn’t always require a power play. They weren’t hurting anyone. It was the end of the day, everyone was tired, and I just didn’t see the point in turning it into a thing. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Sometimes, the most intentional choice I can make is the one that makes space for everyone’s nervous system—including, and especially, mine. 🧘🏽‍♀️
