At 40, he left Latin America for Norway, lured by promises of stable work and security. Instead, his wages were stolen, he worked exhausting hours, and threats kept him silent.

After a chance encounter with police, Diego escaped and found refuge at The Salvation Army’s Filemon Safe House. There, he received counseling, practical support, and daily work experience; slowly regaining his independence and hope.

But Diego’s journey isn’t over. Survivors like him often need safe passage home and ongoing care to truly rebuild their lives. That’s the importance of Wings to Freedom.
