#TSRHBCUuuuuKnow: He’s back! #MorrisBrownCollege has reinstated #DrKevinJames as president just one week after his sudden termination, which sparked major backlash. The school’s Board of Trustees announced that Dr. James officially accepted the invitation to return on Jan. 16, following what they called a “mutually agreed resolution” per 11alive.

According to the Board, Dr. James’ separation did not fully comply with the procedural and contractual requirements set out in his employment agreement, and they took responsibility for the misstep, saying it was on them to correct actions that fell short of those obligations.

As previously reported, Dr. James was fired on Jan. 12, prompting him to speak out on social media and call the timing of the decision “particularly troubling.” He also suggested his termination stemmed from what he described as “board overreach.”____________________________
Dr. James first became president of Morris Brown in March 2019 and is widely credited with leading the school’s major turnaround. Under his leadership, the college regained its accreditation in 2022 after nearly 20 years, a milestone achieved through what he dubbed the school’s “Hard Reset.”

In their latest statement, the Board acknowledged that the termination was “disruptive and painful” for the Morris Brown community and expressed regret over the harm caused.
