## Caption

My Mami and I always bonded over true crime and LA history. I loved hearing her stories while driving around, with her saying things like, “Aquí pasó esto,” or share places they watched their favorite artist.

I started creating content for itsanlathingpod to feel closer to her, to be in the spaces she had once been in. I just want to feel closer to her in any way possible.

The milliondollartheater, in particular, is such a special place for me because of all the stories my Mami would tell us about it. It was a place where she felt safe, welcomed, and could forget the heaviness of her life for a moment. Being young, alone, and recently immigrating to this country must have been so hard. My heart still breaks for my Mami, but that’s a story for another day.

I took in this place as much as I could. I looked at all the seats, trying to imagine where she must have sat when she attended. The steps she must have taken. The mirrors in the bathroom she probably checked to make sure she looked amazing as always.

Getting the opportunity to stand on a stage where she watched incredible performances, who would have thought that one day her daughter would be up there grabbing content for her LA videos, lol.

I am so thankful my brother was there to share this day with me. The best brother anyone could ask for and it is also his birthday today, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER! Love you forever. jon_jon8432
