Tyler Tanner scored a career-high 29 points, including 23 in the second half, to lead No. 11 Vanderbilt to a 96–90 win over 13th-ranked Alabama on Wednesday night, keeping the Commodores undefeated at 15–0 (2–0 SEC).

The first half was competitive, with Duke Miles adding 19 points and five steals before fouling out. Tyler Nickel scored 12, while Devin McGlockton and AK Okereke each added 10. Alabama saw four players foul out in a game with 63 combined fouls; Amari Allen led the Tide with 25 points, Labaron Philon Jr. scored 18 before exiting, and Aden Holloway had 22.

Fouls dominated the early second half, limiting Alabama’s scoring; the Tide never led by more than four. Allen briefly cut Vanderbilt’s lead to 59–58, but the Commodores responded with a 16–4 run, highlighted by Tanner’s free throws off a technical and a Mike James three-pointer to make it 74–63. Tanner also contributed seven assists and four steals and hit 12-of-15 free throws in the half.

Alabama cut the deficit late, but Vanderbilt held on, with the Tide coming no closer than 94–90. The win marked Vanderbilt’s first victory over Alabama at Memorial Gym since 2018 and extended their best start since the 2007–08 season.
