Elijah Strong erupted for a career-high 30 points as South Carolina used a dominant first half to hold off LSU, 78–68, on Tuesday night in SEC play.

The Gamecocks bounced back from a loss to Vanderbilt, building a commanding 50–25 halftime lead. Strong scored 18 points in the first half, while Meechie Johnson added 15, hitting three three-pointers. LSU struggled early, with nine players scoring but none reaching more than four points as the Tigers shot just 29% from the field.

South Carolina’s lead peaked at 25 points before LSU mounted a late surge. The Tigers went on a 12–3 run to pull within 66–60 with 6:22 remaining, but Strong answered with four straight points, ensuring the Gamecocks maintained control the rest of the way. Eli Ellis contributed 10 points to round out South Carolina’s balanced attack.

For LSU, Max Mackinnon led with 15 points, while Pablo Tamba and PJ Carter each added 10. Mike Nwoko pulled down 13 rebounds along with six points. Despite the late push, the Tigers couldn’t overcome South Carolina’s dominant first-half performance and consistent shooting from Strong and Johnson.
