January 21st is Squirrel Appreciation Day! This day honors the small critter who scurries from plant to tree and is a good distraction for dogs when out on a walk. 

For today, we took a different approach to print the only squirrel related items in our print shop at the Sacramento History Museum. It helps that we received several months ago a package in the mail from one of our followers in Nevada, who found these cuts being thrown away many many years ago from the California Department of Food and Agriculture in Sacramento.

In this video, Jared letterpress printed two large electrotypes of the same image depicting a World War I ad campaign to eliminate ground squirrels from destroying crops. This was printed with purple oil base ink using our Washington hand press.
