LIONS CLAIM LEAGUE TITLE: The jserrahockey team put the finishing touches on a Valley Conference title with back-to-back shutout victories in the penultimate weekend of the regular season at Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena in Irvine.

The Lions kicked off their dominant showing with an 8-0 triumph over Capistrano United on Friday.

JSerra seized definitive control of the game in the first period.

Senior Minha Chung scored her first goal of the season to put the Lions ahead 1-0 less than two minutes into the game. 

Freshman Kyle Bennett and junior Griffin Blake each added two goals in the period to stake the Lions to a 5-0 lead.

Blake’s hat trick goal gave the Lions a 6-0 lead.

Freshman Jack Breen tallied a goal in the third period, with Blake completing his standout, four-goal performance with an unassisted score to cap the scoring in the Lions win.

Junior Jacob White produced 17 saves.

JSerra tangled with Santa Margarita on Saturday and came away with a 5-0 triumph over the Eagles.

The duo of Bennett and Blake served as the offensive catalyst in the win, as Bennett recorded a hat trick with a goal in the first period and two goals in the second period, with Blake scoring a goal in both the second and third periods respectively.

White was stout between the pipes for the Lions, as he totaled 27 saves.
