Bonus factoid: SLO was the first of its kind city in California to have a compost system that truly benefits residents *and the planet.* The contents of those green-lidded organic containers are taken to the Kompogas Dry Anaerobic Digestion Facility. This in-vessel system relies on bacteria to convert organic materials into a high-quality organic compost and carbon-neutral biogas. The biogas is converted into enough electricity to power 600 homes a year!!
