🔍 José Capriles, a pennstate associate professor of anthropology, was one of the researchers who rediscovered a lost society, known as Tiwanaku, through ancient temple ruins in the Andes.

The temple's location in modern-day Bolivia, along the shores of Lake Titicaca, showed signs of early Andean civilization and a precursor of the Inca Empire. When active, it connected three main trade routes, giving the vastly different regions crucial access to commondities.

🛰️ By using satellite imaging, drones, and archaeological fieldwork, researchers can now analyze how the Tiwanaku people connected trade, religion, and ritual throughout the Andes.
