I used to think being a “good wife” meant being endlessly accommodating and always putting my needs last. What it actually gave me was anxiety, resentment, and disconnection from the girl I once was.

I went through a season that looked selfish from the outside, but was necessary on the inside. What I learned was this: by not putting myself on the list, I was actually doing both myself and my husband a disservice. That season forced me to be honest (with him and with myself) about what I want my life to look like. I learned that some seasons aren’t about choosing sides. They’re about choosing yourself so you can show up whole, regardless of the outcome.

It feels good to feel like me again 😌
