These Sleeping Dogs are a pumped up version of the all time favorite pigs in a blanket, which I’ve made for my kids since they were littles.  In my cookbook I made them with hot dogs, but they are equally as delicious using chicken sausages, as I did here.  Also, the chicken sausages are already folly cooked so no need to cook them before wrapping them up and baking them.  Caramelized  onions are just fabulous in general but the addition of them on these, with the addition of Dijon makes this version next level.  Plus the addition of the creamy honey mustard sauce wraps it all up with a lovely bow. 

These would absolutely perfect for your Super Bowl gathering because you can make the onions and the dipping sauce a few days in advance and park them in the fridge.  Assemble the Dogs in a blanket the night before and cover and refrigerate until you are ready to bake and serve.  Easy and so delicious.
