Meet Gabriel Herrera!

Gabriel is a senior Aerospace Engineering student at uciengineering 

He has completed five internships at nasa ’s Johnson Space Center. Gabriel shared his journey from his first year as a NASA intern ➡️ to an award-winning NASA intern ➡️ to an engineering leader.

During his time at #UCIrvine, Gabriel joined the UCI Rocket Project Liquids Team and was an undergraduate researcher in the Computational Solid Mechanics Lab, gaining hands-on experience that shaped his path in space engineering and rocketry! 

He also used ucicareer services, such as resume reviews, templates, and drop-in sessions, which he said helped him land his first internship position at NASA.

One of Gabriel’s biggest takeaways from his internship?
💡 Don’t be afraid to ask questions 💡
He told us that while he initially felt nervous working alongside highly experienced engineers, he quickly learned that curiosity is welcomed, and that asking questions is key to making the most of any internship experience.

His advice for Anteaters:
Get involved. Join projects, research, and extracurriculars that align with the industry you want to enter. The experience you gain now can make all the difference later. Tap into campus resources that are available at your disposal, like the Division of Career Pathways.
