Dove Cameron says the moment Damiano David proposed was nothing like the glamorous photos fans later saw. 💍

Speaking to Vogue, Cameron revealed she was caught completely off guard when the Måneskin frontman popped the question back in October.

“For the actual proposal, I wasn’t wearing any makeup,” the actress shared. Instead of her usual glam, it was very lowkey. “I was completely barefaced, ‘cause I had no idea that it was gonna be that day. It was very sweet in that way because I am typically very made-up, done-up. I have fun experimenting with that stuff. But in this case, I was just in my big T-shirt, slightly damp hair, and no makeup.” 

With Jimmy Fallon, Dove shared even more of the sweet story. “[Damiano said] ‘our life is so big and it’s full of so many public highs that there’s no romance in that for us anymore. And so I wanted to do this here in our home because I want dishes, I want laundry, I want making food together, I want you in your big T-shirt.’” 😭

The surprise proposal was a private, intimate moment the couple kept to themselves for months before announcing their engagement on Jan. 3.
